Incident Description
Oakland Sgt. Francisco Negrete and officers William Berger, Brandon Hraiz and Craig Tanaka were involved in the fatal shooting of a homeless man, Joshua Pawlik, whom they said pointed a gun at them when he woke up from lying in between two homes. In Feb. 2019, Pawlik's mother filed a lawsuit against alleging civil rights violations. In March 2019, all four involved officers were placed on leave.
