Incident Description

On July 20th, a bystander video captured two Buffalo police officers on the side of the road searching a Black woman's laundry basket. Officers dumped the contents of the laundry basket, which appeared to contain clothes and personal belongings, on to the open road. The woman stood nearby as her belongings and the basket were tossed to the ground.

The officers turned and got back in their police vehicle and drove away, leaving the woman to pickup the contents of her belongings from the road, with no apparent reason for their stop or search. It doesn't not appear that the woman was provided a stop receipt, which police officers are required to fill out indicating the reason for the alleged violation observed at traffic stops.

Outcome

There has been no public statement regarding disciplinary action against the officers involved in this incident.
