Incident Description
On July 1st, Buffalo Police shut down multiple basketball courts following the promotion of a pick-up basketball tournament by youtuber D'Vontay Friga. Hoops were removed, gates were closed, and police vehicles were driven on to the basketball courts to prevent young people from participating in the community tournament. The commissioner claimed a similar tournament was held in Niagara Falls recently and it “ended badly,” and because the park event in Buffalo had no permits, they shut it down.
